Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Although this place was deceivingly advertised as being located in Loveland, it’s actually located in the cute community of historic Berthoud. What a nice surprise.

Negative: There were quite a few unpleasant surprises staying in this place. First off the air conditioning units in the windows allowed for cold air to come through in winter. Not exactly when I want it to be cooled down in the place. The blinds were destroyed in both the living room and the bedrooms because of these units, allowing for anyone passing by to look in. Absolutely no privacy and very inappropriate. I even messaged the management company asking for curtains without success. I found a cardboard box instead and cut it up to cover all the gaps. Ghetto! Another unpleasant part was being woken up by people taking right outside the bedroom window. These air conditioners don’t block sound and I thought someone was in my house. No, they were just guest packing up their cars and had no idea I could clearly hear them. When it snowed I was shocked to find that, as guests, we had to shovel our own path. At least they left us a shovel. So I got to work clearing the path in front of all the units and along the sidewalk out front. This is a potential liability. Not shoveling and allowing that snow to turn to ice could have caused someone to fall and injure themselves. Another unpleasant surprise I found, when I was shoveling out this property myself, was a SECOND NOTICE taped on the building to “cease all short-term rental operations immediately.” Maybe that’s why my reservation said this place is located in Loveland and not Berthoud. I did contact the management company to let them know about the letter. They assured me they were in fact in compliance. It did not become my problem and my stay was not impacted by this. But it’s not very comforting to find this notice on the premises. And let’s not forget about all the insects and spiders in the unit.
