Summary: Bare bones, low-cost, but clean and satisfactory Tenderloin hotel. Far more personality than you'll find in your standard Motel 6 type establishment. There is no bathroom within the unit. There appeared to be about 1 or 2 bathrooms per floor (~20 units). Those bathrooms seemed to be pretty inconsistent in terms of locks. But within each bathroom there's a toilet area and a shower area. Things were surprisingly clean when I was there. This could probably be a problem if there were too many people using the bathroom at once, but for a one-night stay, it was fine. As another review pointed out, there's no AC, and no screen on the windows, so it won't be ideal for a summer heatwave. However, there is a heater. We went in September though, so there was no need for either. Bedsheets were all clean and nice. Being able to look out the window at the busy streets of San Francisco was pretty exciting. There's a cafe, a falafel place, multiple corner stores, and much more, immediately outside the hotel. There's also a parking garage around the corner. The hotel was very secure, and only guests were allowed to enter. I love how classic and SF the narrow staircases and stuff were. And yes, there are homeless people in the Tenderloin. Grow up. Overall, definitely satisfactory for a single-night San Francisco trip. But know what you're getting, and don't expect Hilton level amenities.
