It's truly a 4-seasons vacationland. The massive 150 inches of snowfall the resort averages each year are just a backdrop for winter fun of skiing, snowmobiling, and just enjoying the pristine blanket that covers the area as far as the eye can see. Spring arrives late but is well worth the wait with the birth of new wildlife, and spring wildflowers. In summer, there's hiking, picnicking, and countless ways to enjoy the great outdoors. And fall doesn't disappoint, with birch and aspen trees that beam with amazing colors.
The accommodations here make it as much fun to stay inside as it is to go out and play. In the Summit View Condominiums, the wood-burning or gas fireplace and private outdoor balcony add to the feeling of home. You'll think you're on top of the world at Summit View, the highest inhabitable building between the Rockies and the Alps. The Vista Peak condos enjoy all the amenities of Summit View, plus the entire building is enclosed, so you can visit the pool or exercise room without going outside.
Does any resort offer this much monumental fun? Barefoot Condominiums has the best downhill skiing and the highest ski lifts east of the Rockies. Plus, there are over 300 miles of groomed cross-country skiing. Nearby are some of America's best-known tourist attractions, like Deadwood, where the entire city is a national monument, two more 'can't miss' monuments, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, the rugged beauty of Spearfish Canyon, and the intriguing underground world of Jewel Cave. If you're feeling lucky, you can pan for gold like a prospector of old or try to beat the odds at one of the area's 60 casinos. There's so much to enjoy when you vacation at Barefoot, you'll never get it all in. But it sure is fun trying.
